How to be more ambitious: A tutorial for humans with models

Self-efficacy isn’t a new problem, but it is a more powerful one now. In a world where our abilities make leaps every couple of weeks, we need techniques that allow us to do things we didn’t really consider or believe possible. If you find more techniques that allow you to be more ambitious, please let me know!

Felix Rieseberg, who works on Claude at Anthropic, posts one of the more concrete guides I’ve seen on an abstract topic: how do you use AI more ambitiously? At first, it seems like an unanswerable question, kind of like “how do you be more creative”, but he does a nice job of distilling an abstract topic into tractable tips.

He divides ambition into four dimensions: Speed, Altitude, Range, and Depth, and gives concrete examples of how to push models on each. I’ve already used these tips multiple times today.
